In late 2004, the owner of Vermont's only Nudist website, www.nakedinvermont.com, introduced the concept of a World Naked Bike Ride into the consciousness of Burlington, Vermont.

On June 11, 2005, the first naked bike ride was organized in Burlington and 20 naked people took part in the ride through the streets of the city.

On June 10, 2006, another ride was organized and became the second annual Naked Bike Ride. This ride took place with approximately 60 naked riders.
